Questions

Getting started

What is Sound Renew?

Sound Renew is an app for guided sound therapy, also called sonotherapy, for people, dogs and horses. Each treatment walks you through a few steps with a photo for every one: first the sore area of the body, then the matching ear acupuncture point, with a timer running for each step.

It uses the frequencies published by Drs. Nogier and Bahr in auriculotherapy and auricular medicine.

What do I need to use it?

Wired or wireless headphones, a headphone bud, or a small speaker such as a can speaker, and a quiet few minutes. There is no special hardware to buy.

Which phones does it run on?

iPhone with iOS 17.0 or later, and Android phones with Android 5.0 or later. The app is available in 11 languages: English, Arabic, Danish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).

Is Sound Renew the same as iTherapySmartCure?

Yes. Sound Renew is iTherapySmartCure 2.0: one app for people, dogs and horses that replaces iTherapySmartCure, iTherapySC Dog and iTherapySC Horse. The treatments are the same, with simpler steps and new guided photos. Read what changed.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There are no accounts and no sign-in. You choose who you are treating and start. Purchases go through your Apple or Google account, not ours.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes. The treatments, photos and tones are built into the app, so a session runs without a connection. You need to be online only to buy or restore a subscription.

Using the app

How does a treatment work?

Step one treats the body: place headphones or a can speaker on the sore area. The next steps use a headphone bud on the matching ear point, shown by a blue mark, and the back of the ear behind the red mark. Each step has its own timer so you know when to move on. See how it works.

Which ear should I treat?

For pain on one side of the body, treat the ear on the same side: the right ear for pain on the right. For conditions without pain, such as anxiety, treat both ears.

How long should each step last?

Each step shows its own timer. As a guide for people, the in-app guide suggests 4 to 10 minutes with headphones or a can speaker on the sore area, then 2 to 4 minutes at the related ear point. For dogs and horses it suggests about 5 to 10 minutes on the sore area, then 4 to 6 minutes at the ear point.

Why is the back of the ear so important?

The guide calls it very important because it relaxes muscles. The treatment area is directly behind the red mark. See how to find it.

What volume should I use?

Keep the volume comfortable, never painfully loud, especially with a bud in or at the ear. If you cannot hear the treatment sound at all, check that the device volume is turned up and that the phone is not on silent.

Why did my treatment stop?

A treatment stops when you leave the app or lock the phone. Return to the app and touch Start to continue. You can also turn on Continuous treatment in Settings so a step plays until you press Stop.

Plans and billing

What is free?

3 human treatments (Headache, Sinus and Knee), plus one for dogs and one for horses, are free so you can try Sound Renew before you subscribe. Monthly plans unlock one mode or all three.

How do subscriptions work?

Subscriptions are monthly and renew automatically through the App Store or Google Play until you cancel. Full details, prices and how to cancel are on the subscriptions and billing page.

How do I cancel?

Cancel in your store account, not in the app. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On Android, open Google Play, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

I already subscribe to iTherapySmartCure. Do I keep access?

Yes. Sound Renew keeps the same Human Full and Human Professional subscriptions, so current subscribers keep access after updating.

What about the separate Dog and Horse apps?

Subscriptions bought in the separate iTherapySC Dog and iTherapySC Horse apps belong to those apps and cannot be moved. In Sound Renew you choose a Dog, Horse or All-modes plan. If you do not want the old subscription to renew, cancel it in your store account.

How do I restore a purchase on a new phone?

Open Settings, then Plans, and touch Restore Purchases. Sign in to the same Apple or Google account you bought with.

How do I get a refund?

Apple and Google handle payments and refunds, not us. Request a refund from the store you bought from. Where to ask.

Safety and privacy

Does it replace seeing a doctor or veterinarian?

No. Always seek medical attention first, and use Sound Renew only in addition to medical treatment, not instead of it. For dogs and horses, consult a veterinarian before treating pain or emotional problems. Read the full medical disclaimer.

Does the app collect my personal information?

No. The apps have no accounts, no analytics and no tracking, and show no ads. Your preferences stay on your device. See data practices for the detail.

Who is Professional for?

The Professional plan adds Custom Sonopuncture for auricular medicine, auriculotherapy and acupuncture practitioners: 32 frequencies for any point you choose. See practitioners.

How do I report a problem or ask something else?

Email energetichealthandresearch@gmail.com or use Contact support in the app's Settings. See contact.
